Unpacking & storage

1.1.

Contents, Unpacking & storage - Procedure and Precautions

1.1.1.

Packed carton box contains - Quick Start Guide of ELF3200 series meter, Limited Warranty Certificate, Test and Calibration certificate.

1.1.2.

First check the carton for signs of damage or liquid spills. If any damage is found, then you must lodge a claim with the transporter. In this case, please contact the transporter before proceeding with the unpacking; he may want his agent to be present. Please also read the Conzerv Limited Warranty certificate received with the meter.

1.1.3.   Do not remove the protective plastic cover of your new Meters until the time of installation. Preserve the packing material. This will be required if the Meter needs to be shipped later for service or calibration.
2.

Installation/ commissioning

2.1.

Procedure of installation & commissioning

2.1.1.

Please go through the Quick Start Guide of ELF3200 series meter supplied with each new Meter for instructions, installation/ commissioning. Refer wiring diagram stuck on the case behind the bezel. You can also download the operating guide from this website

2.2.

Can I program the Meter without training at site?

2.2.1. Yes. The Meter is field programmable by the user. Please follow the Quick Start Guide (QSG) supplied with the Meter. You can also download it from this website

3.2.

How to differentiate Energy Power and VAF series with in ELF3200 series?

3.2.1.

ELF323x series means Power & Energy and ELF325x series means VAF (Volts, Amps & Frequency).

  3.3.

How do I use 96 x 48 mm compact size in already cut 96 x 96mm panel?

3.3.1.

Adapter plate of 96 x 48 mm to 96 x 96 mm is available as optional accessory .

  3.4.

What is the standard of accuracy for ELF323x and ELF325x series?

3.4.1.

ELF 323x series: Class 1 as per IEC 61036. ELF 325x series: There are no clear standard for VAF series. Hence Class 1 of IEC 61036 can be used as reference.

  3.5.

How do I use ELF Energy series in export import condition?

3.5.1.

ELF 323 series has built in reverse lock Two meters should be used for this purpose by keeping the current in forward direction. The two meters can be kept in single 96 x 96mm cutout.

  3.6.

How can I detect wrong connections (CT reversal) using ELF meter?

3.6.1.

You must ensure resistive load of at least 10% Full Scale. PF should be between 0.9 lead to 0.9 lag. Select the W through setup. Select the phase wise W and see whether the energy is positive. If the energy is negative, then the phase is reversed. Correct the direction on all individual phase wise.

3.7.

How to find the meter constant for energy measurement in ELF meter?

3.7.1.

IEC 61036 suggests having some mechanism of measuring energy at faster speed to find the accuracy. Generally manufacturers will have POP LED which blink faster than the display / counter update. Since ELF meters have instantaneous information along with integrated information, we can directly see the accuracy by looking at instantaneous parameter.

3.8.

How does instantaneous parameter benefit to customers when compared to meter constant (POP) for energy measurement?

3.8.1.

Generally, for accuracy, the reading is taken for at least 400 pulses at external laboratory where the source is  not stable for class 1 meter. This is because the measurement error should not be more than 1/4th of accuracy.  Higher the impulse / kWh, faster the test. Generally tariff meter test benches do not have very high stable source. So the tests are done quickly with a high frequency POP LED. However this may not be much true if the accuracy is taken using stable source and the average time measured between the LED blink and the energy calculated back. In the case of ELF meter, we can see the instantaneous parameter updating every second. Hence accuracy can be known for every second or average for 5 to 10 seconds for better accuracy and hence it is faster. Remember stable sources were not available in olden days and hence chosen for pulse measurement for a longer period to get the accuracy.

3.8.2. Eg: For meter constant 1600 (1600 pulses per kW): At 100% load, measurement time for 400 pulse is 400/1600 hours=15minutes as against 5 to10 seconds in the case of ELF.  At 25% load , measurement time for 400 pulse is =60minutes as against 5 to 10 seconds in the case of ELF.
  3.9.

What are WH and Wh in ELF3234?

3.9.1.

Energy reading has 8 digit resolution. Display will show four at a time. Generally the higher digits (parameter will display capital "H". eg: VAH) are sufficient for monitoring. However if lower digits (parameter will display small "h". eg: VAh) are required to be monitored in some application, we can select the lower digit pages. Even in case of power failure, it automatically selects the last displayed parameter and hence the selected parameter will be displayed. For example.

3.9.2.

12.345678 will be displayed as 12.34 in VAH  ( KILO and MEGA LED OFF) and 5678 will display in VAh.

3.9.3.

Similarly 1234.5678 will be displayed as 1234. in VAH ( KILO and MEGA LED OFF) and 5678 in VAh  and also

3.9.4. 12345.678 displayed as 12.34K (KILO  LED is ON and MEGA LED is OFF) in the VAH and 5678 in the VAh. ( KILO and MEGA LED is OFF).
4.

Problems observed after installation

4.1.

Meter does not show the calculated W (Watts) readings. Why?

4.1.1.

The Meter should be programmed before installation. Not programmed/ incorrectly programmed Meters will show incorrect readings. See the Quick Start Guide (QSG) supplied along with the meter for programming.

4.1.2.

For the current phase reversal (instead of S1 to S2 the connection is S2 to S1) - check the Watts individual (W1,W2,W3). If any one of the phase is negative then the particular phase is reversed.

4.2.

Connections are proper, meter is showing proper voltage but Y phase current is not showing in the meter. What could be the problem?

4.2.1.

The meter would have programmed for Star and connections to the Y phase are not given presuming the system as Delta.

4.2.2.

For checking the system configuration (Star or Delta) in the meters

4.2.2.1.

Connect all the Voltages and Auxiliary supply.

4.2.2.2.

Connect the current from R and B phase. Switch ON the meter.

4.2.2.3.

If the System is STAR then Y phase current and power parameter is zero, else if the System is Delta then Y phase current and power parameter will display some value.

4.2.3. Change the system configuration if required.

4.3.

ELF3234 connected in the panel, load is available. But meter does not record any Integ parameter (KWh/ KVAh/ KVARh etc). Why ?

4.3.1.

ELF3234 has internal built in reverse lock. In star mode if two or all the phases of current is connected in the reverse direction the integrator will not accumulate.  In the delta mode if any one of the phase current is in the reverse direction then the integrator will not accumulate, because net energy flow is negative.

4.3.2.  For correction, follow the same procedure as mentioned in 4.1 above.
